After a successful first series, Atlantis was swiftly commissioned for a second and filming has already taken place all the way back in April, in Chepstow, Wales.

Old faces will of course return, but there also a few new additions in the form of Vincent Regan, Amy Manson, Robert Pugh and Peter De Jersey. Details on their characters and whether they're playing for the 'good' or 'bad' sides are yet to be revealed.

With promised "surprises up our sleeve" from show creators Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy, fans should rest assured that the series is ready to go to "new places" as everyone who made it through the first series makes their return. Could this mean we venture out of the main city of Atlantis? We hope so, but we wouldn't want everything to stray away, as it can look so fantastic and beautiful on-screen.

The cast certainly look to be having fun whilst filming, taking selfies on-set and doing their job surrounded by one heck of a lot of green screen:

Just which mythological characters will we come face to face with this time, and will Jason's time/space/location submarine travel ever be touched upon again, or is he stuck in Atlantis forevermore?

The fact that The Minotaur was one of the first things tackled in the series left it wide open and the introduction of Medusa, and seeing her story play out was fascinating.

Atlantis returns later this year.
