Three weeks into the fifth season of Big Brother Canada, and we've lost our second veteran houseguest, in a season that brought together eight new players with eight who have been in the house before. Duking it out for the grand prize, the third eviction of the season took place last night with Season 4 vet Cassandra Shahinfar sent home. Here's what she had to say about her exit...

Cassandra Shahinfar was the third houseguest evicted from Big Brother Canada 5

Cassandra Shahinfar was the third houseguest evicted from Big Brother Canada 5

Now that you’ve had a little bit of time to reflect on your time in the house, how do you feel about the whole BBCAN5 experience?

I loved it. Being on Big Brother Canada has always been a dream of mine; I’ve watched every single season ever. When I was asked to come back for a second season I was so grateful, because I was playing on a show that I admire and love, so it was great and I loved everything about it. I‘m gonna have a different experience this time getting out third, so I’m gonna be out while the season’s still on air, and I can be part of the social media action opposed to last year when I got out in the very end, and it was all dying down at that point. So I was very excited by how it all worked out.

This week’s eviction vote was unanimous – why do you think that is?

I guess I’m a huge threat! No, the reason why it was a unanimous vote is due to how the season’s going. Everyone’s going with the house. Nobody wants to address the line that IS in the sand, and that there ARE two separate sides to the house, because nobody wants a target on their back. Everybody is playing in fear. If the people that I was working with, the six votes I was working on would have voted to keep me, we would have been one number strong. Big Brother Canada is like a game of chess, you wanna move your team forward and try to take out the other side. Even if it’s a pawn; it’s getting to the bigger players. So I think the six votes I was counting on keeping me in the house will regret voting me out, because you can’t have a unanimous vote… They’re gonna keep taking my side out if it keeps going the way it is.

How differently would you have played the game if you were the one given a pass to jury?

That’s a good question. You know, I really wanted to work with Neda, and going into the house I tried to build a relationship with her and she just wasn’t having it. If I had that power I would assume that she would not be coming after me, because she knows that I would do it; she would just try to build a relationship with me. I wouldn’t have gone after Neda, because I loved her in her season. Going into my season, season 4, I wanted to play like her, I looked up to her, so I was really disappointed that she didn’t wanna play with me in the house.

I would have still gone after strong guys. I would have gone after Kevin, Bruno, Dillon; they’re all clearly working together but don’t wanna admit it to the rest of the house, which is fine, it’s Big Brother Canada, it’s about lying, cheating, backstabbing. I definitely would have gone after the strong guys.

If William did use the Power of Veto to save you, who do you think would have gone up on the block?

It would have been Dre most likely, just because Neda knows that William would be going against her, and she’d wanna take a stab at one of his number one allies which is Dre, and I think she said it out loud to Ika, that got back to William so, that’s why he didn’t wanna use the veto. It wouldn’t have been a good outcome for him.

Similarly, if you won the HoH this week who would you have targeted?

I would have targeted Bruno, Kevin or Dillon; two of those three. Bruno and Dillon I think have been working together since the first few days in the house, and Kevin and Bruno are clearly together, so you need to break that up. They’re three strong guys.

What do you think of the twists so far this season?

I love twists. That’s a part of Big Brother. You need to expect the unexpected and you need to plan ahead. You’ve got to plan for those twists, so I don’t see it as a negative.

Who do you want to see evicted next and why?

Since Neda came after me probably her! No, I would love to see Bruno evicted. He is trying to go by that he doesn’t lie, he’s playing this humble game, blah blah blah. But, you’re in that house and you’re a good player. I remember you lying on your season, so I hope you’re lying this season and I know he definitely lied to me a couple of times, so I would like to see him walk out after me.

Make an early prediction - who do you think is gonna make it to final three?

Ooo. I’m hoping it’s Gary, Dre… Who else would I like to see in there? You know what? Ika, just because she’s so entertaining. But, Gary, I hope he wins it all because he is just so entertaining, he was loyal to me in the house and he really fought for me this week, and I really hope he didn’t make too big of a target on his back moving forward. Everyone thinks he’s just sitting there doing his contour, when in reality he’s sitting there analysing who’s working with who, and watching the room, and he has a good grasp on the game. He’s way smarter than anybody gives him credit for. So, I really do believe he can go far.

Finally, what are some of your highlights from your time in the house this year?

I loved when the whole house went on slop after I’d been on slop for so long. That was a really fun moment for me, watching everyone die after being on two hours of slop. It was like, ‘OK guys, I’ve been on it for 11 days, can you be quiet?’

Another moment that I loved is that first week, I kinda started the rivalry between Demetres and Dillon. I went to Demetres and said, ‘Hey, you should target this guy ‘cause all these other guys are gonna look at that and be like ‘Let’s keep Demetres in the house because he’s gonna continually go after Dillon, and Dillon’s gonna go after him and it’s gonna take the target off everybody else’, and it was brilliant in my mind. And it worked out for him! He was out the door before that. In the Veto ceremony I looked at him, ‘Hey, look over at Dillon make a look at him!’ It was all just little things I did.

At the end of the day, I hope that I was as entertaining for the 20 days I was in that house, that I was in the 73 days in my original season. I can’t wait to go watch!
