Chatting to FemaleFirst before E!'s new special Reality Ex Wives, Courtney opens up about her marriage to Doug Hutchison, the good times and what led to the breakdown of her marriage.
Tell us about the first time you met Doug.
The first time I met Doug was an incredible experience. We had spoken for 6 months before meeting face to face in person. I felt like I already knew him but never was around him in actual real life.
When did you realise he was the man you wanted to marry?
I pretty much knew we would marry about five months into our relationship... but I was absolutely certain after we spent some time together in person.
How did you spend your time as a married couple?
Doug and I had a lot in common despite our 34 years age difference. We enjoyed spending our days working on creative [things] together, dining out, vacationing, going to the beach, watching Netflix, laughing a lot... there're many good memories that I take away from our time.
What are your best memories from the marriage?
Just laughing together about the silliest things. We have the same sense of humor and made each other giggle a LOT!
What was it that led to you deciding to call it a day on your marriage?
My age! Surprising, eh? Haha! We both came to a realisation that I needed time to grow on my own & experience life as a young girl. Doug was actually the one who came to me and told me that we needed to separate in order for me to grow & mature. I honestly consider Doug my best friend & appreciate him so very much. I'm grateful to be able to say that we've remained close and can have a friendship without resentment or regret.
What advice do you have to those wives who are going through a divorce or rough period in their marriage?
Stay true to yourself regardless of the situation you may be experiencing. Remain positive... & kind.
What do you think about the other ex-wives involved in Reality Ex Wives? (Linda Hogan, Adrianne Curry, Jennifer Williams and Countess Luann De Lesseps)
I think they're all extremely powerful women who are loving themselves and doing what's best. I admire that.
You recently appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK, would you ever consider doing another show like this?
CBB was an amazing experience. I grew so much within such a small amount of time. I would definitely consider it...
On the show you met Lauren Harries and became good friends, is that relationship still in-tact?
Unfortunately not... but I do wish her all the best. She's a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants & I admire that about her.
What projects do you have in the pipeline that you can share some details about?
I'm currently filming a webseries with World Of Wonder called "Courtney Naturally". It's exposing the many colours of my personality in a really fun way. I'm honored to be able to create with WOW - I love them! I have so many other projects in the works... but can't speak of them yet.
