Criminal Minds - Derailed

14-11-2006 09:16

Reid steps in when hostages, including Elle, are taken by a psychotic man on a Texas train.

Gideon and the BAU have been called in to help with a hostage situation: a psychotic gunman is holding five train passengers hostage.

As they view the security-camera footage from the train, the team are suddenly made aware that one of the hostages is someone close to home:

Elle, who was on her way to interview a prisoner.

The gunman is identified as renowned academic Dr Ted Bryar, who has developed a psychosis and was being taken to a conference to act as a subject in his psychiatrist’s speech.

“This is going to end today,” mutters Bryar, before dragging a passenger to the phone and forcing her to make a call to the authorities outside, including the recently arrived BAU team.

It seems that Bryar believes he is being used by the government and a ‘higher authority’ as some kind of test case, and has had a chip implanted in his skin.
