Alex has been assigned to help out Addison, much to his disgust, as she prepares to perform a Caesarean section. Rose has already had six children, and is so exhausted that she is desperate for this baby to be her last. She asks Addison to sterilise her while delivering the baby, but asks her to keep this quiet from her husband – his Catholic beliefs would make it hard for him to accept his wife’s decision. Addison agrees, but Alex is unhappy about it – and decides to have a quiet word with the husband...
Burke, meanwhile, is stunned when his musical hero, concert violinist Eugene Foote (Albert Hall, ‘Apocalypse Now’) asks him to remove his pacemaker as it is affecting his ability to play: “If you won’t, I’ll find someone who will.” Eugene is willing to sacrifice his life for his music – but will Burke be the one to do it?
