Continuing tonight is the second season of theaward-winning hospital drama. Currently the topratedshow in the US, Grey’s Anatomy charts the personal and professional lives of a group of young surgical interns. Chris O’Donnell (‘Batman and Robin’) guest-starsin the first of tonight’s episodes, in which Meredith makes a shocking discovery; Alex and Burke clashover a dying woman and Bailey assists Derek as he operates on a conscious patient.

With the George fiasco the last straw, Meredith has decided that she’s through with men, and is now focusing on knitting. But life is never that simple for Meredith, who is about to find out something huge about her past. Pregnant patient Molly is about to undergo a tricky operation, and her parents are by her bedside. George is shocked to discover that Molly’s father is none other than Thatcher Grey (Jeff Perry, Terrence Steadman in ‘Prison Break’) –which means that Molly is Meredith’s sister.

How will Meredith react when she finds out about the sibling that she never knew she had? Alex, meanwhile, is finding it impossible to hold his tongue when faced with a dying patient (Laurie Metcalfe, ‘Desperate Housewives’, ‘Roseanne’) who is hiding the truth from her daughter. After his brusque bedside manner earns him two tellings-off from Burke, Alex gets into more trouble when he persists in telling her that she should be honest with her daughter.

This time he defends his actions to a shocked Burke: “I tell them the truth,” he says. “That’s what I do.” Bailey is also known for her stern manner, but having a child has changed her somewhat. When she gets emotional during a tense surgery on a young boy, she claims she’s got something in her eye – but a smiling Derek knows better. Also in this episode, Cristina exercises her famous competitive streak when she and the Chief battle it out in the classroom – and ends up with an idea of how to get George to move out.

Izzie and Meredith are surprised to realise that George is Callie’s ‘McDreamy’. And Meredith’s new-found resolve to quit men is tested when she meets handsome vet Finn (O’Donnell). In tonight’s second episode, Addison gets into trouble when she tries to help out an exhausted patient, Burke is stunned when his musical hero asks for his pacemaker to be removed and Meredith wonders if she should rethink her decision to be celibate.
