Linden explains to the priest that he has sinned and let someone down, as he begins to narrate this episode and explain exactly what he means…
Patient John Priestley is taken into theatre for an aorta valve replacement. Joseph is late and distracted, waiting for a call. Connie is furious as the patient has woken during the operation, and when the diathermy makes contact with the glue in Priestley’s chest, there is a small explosion and his chest catches fire. They manage to put out the fire and send Priestley back to sleep, but a bleed occurs. By magic, Connie uses hemostate powder to stop the bleed – Joseph is impressed so she gives it to him as a souvenir.
Connie tells Joseph to take some time off to sort his domestic problems. He agrees as can use this time to find Faye. Meanwhile Michael and Linden speak to Jac, who says she thinks Faye is in serious trouble. They warn Joseph who questions Jac further. He begins to panic realising he actually knows nothing about Faye. Who is Lucas Jac claims to be her husband, and where is she? Linden calms him, saying that Faye would never hurt him intentionally and Joseph realises he is right. He then receives a withheld call and it’s Faye. She is upset and asking for his help, but his phone battery dies.
We see Faye sitting crying on a bed, and as she gets up, we realise she is not in Holby City, but in an apartment by the sea. Linden narrates that this is when he got dragged in further. Joseph’s inability with technology meant he had to get involved.
Linden takes Joseph’s phone and uses his battery for it instead. By this stage Joseph has given up on Faye - why should he care anymore when all she does is lie? He doesn’t want to play games anymore. Linden continues to worry as before Joseph’s battery had died, Faye had said she was in trouble and that they could kill him - Lucas presumably. Linden then gets another withheld call and it’s Faye. Joseph is distracted telling Mr Priestley that he must have imagined his chest setting on fire during the operation, but when he’s sees Linden rush off after taking the call, he follows. Faye had told Linden she is in Cape Town and needs help. Maddy hands Linden some flight tickets as he prepares to leave – he has to help Faye, he cannot let her down.
To Linden’s surprise Joseph follows him, although apparently not caring anymore. They take a taxi and head for the airport. They finally arrive in Cape Town and begin their journey to find Faye.
