Holby City

Holby City

Elliot arrives at Holby with his dog Samson again. He has the decorators in and can't leave him at home. He does his best to try and hide Samson from everyone but fails when he runs up the stairs and into Jac. Jac is still unsteady on her feet and falls to the ground. Elliot is sorry but Jac doesn't want to cause a fuss, and explains that she is fine. Linden and Faye help Jac up. Linden suggests that her leg might be worse than it looks and says that he would like to have an x-ray done to be on the safe side.

Daisha has been seeing the counsellor for the last few weeks about her problems since having baby Joe. But she has missed her appointment and Chrissie decides that it's her mission to make sure Daisha gets back on track and to leave her father alone.

Donna is in the locker room getting ready for work, when Michael comes in closing the door behind him. Michael tells her that his life is falling apart and for the first time he looks desperate and clearly doesn't want his marriage to end.  He tells Donna that he has not admitted to their little dalliance and has no intention of doing so. Michael asks Donna to lie to Annalese when she asks about their moment of passion. Donna doesn't like the idea of lying and suggests that they just come clean. Michael isn't going to let that happen and Donna finally agrees.

After collapsing outside the doors of Holby, Steve Hewitt is waiting to get the treatment he needs. Kathy, his wife, has turned up.  She is on the board of his charity and up until now has not heard that he was being refused treatment.  It's in no-one's interest to inform her any differently, but when Hewitt comes round he tells his wife what happened. While he is fine with the decision and admires Ric, Kathy has other ideas and decides that there is to be no charitable donation to any hospital that refuses people treatment.  Connie tries to explain but Kathy doesn't want Ric near her husband. She wants Connie to look after him.  Connie says that she can't as she doesn't have the skills but suggests Michael, and Kathy seems happy with that.

Chrissie tells Mark that Daisha has been missing her counselling sessions. Mark isn't impressed and explains that she has no-one else to look after her. Chrissie decides to call Daisha's mother, explaining that she should come home for a few weeks to give her daughter a break. Chrissie has a word with Daisha, explaining that she needs to get back on her own two feet and leave Mark to have a life. Daisha feels guilty and tells Mark that she will be moving out.

Faye is in a better mood today.  She is still upset by Joseph but wants to move on. She is getting rather close with Linden again and Jac notices. Faye invites Linden over for Mexican food after work. He looks delighted and Faye gives him a small kiss.

Connie approaches Michael about Ric.  He needs to get in there and save the day.  This is the last thing Michael wants to do. At any other time he'd be flattered.  Ric knows things are not good for him.  His zero tolerance policy is in danger, but even after what has happened with Hewitt he still believes he's doing the right thing.  If Hewitt hadn't over-indulged then this would never have happened.  Nevertheless, Holby needs the donation from Steve Hewitt's charity, and so Michael agrees to help.

Linden gets the results of Jac's x-ray and accidentally knocks her diary off the desk. He picks it up and finds a twelve week scan of a baby in there.  She has obviously stolen it and was going to pass it off as her own as proof she was pregnant! Now Linden has to decide what to do. He could say nothing which would leave Faye still in doubt about Joseph and so he and Faye could get together, or he could tell her and blow his chances.

Annalese meets with Donna and asks if they could have a word later. Donna, looks guilty and Annalese sees it. Donna agrees and Michael looks worried. Annalese carries on with her day keeping an eye on his every move, she is determined to catch him out.

Daisha tells Mark that she is planning on moving out. Mark is shocked and doesn't want her to leave.  He knows that Chrissie caused this and confronts her to ask why Daisha is moving out. Chrissie explains that Daisha should stand on her own feet and maybe go home for a few weeks.  Her mother seems happy with this but Mark is shocked that Chrissie has called her. Mark tries to sort out the mess and Chrissie feels guilty. She can see that her father really cares about Daisha and Chrissie apologises to her.

Annalese meets with Donna, who looks scared. Annalese asks her if she has had sex with her husband and Donna denies it straight away, claiming that it's an insane thing to say. Annalese almost believes her but Michael finds Donna afterwards to say that he doesn't think Annalese was convinced.

Annalese grabs the lift with Michael and explains that she can't do this anymore, with all the lies and secrets between them. Michael tries to convince her that it's all talk and nothing more but Annalese doesn't believe him. He has no choice but to admit his fling with Donna.  Annalese is devastated. They don't have time to sort this out as they are both needed in theatre. Hewitt has taken a turn for the worse and they've no choice but to operate.

Linden confronts Jac about the scan. She explains that it is a scan of her soon-to-be god-child but Linden doesn't believe her and suggests that she was planning to use it to humiliate Joseph.

The operation gets underway and, just as things are settling down, Michael looks over at Annalese who mouths 'I'm leaving you.' Michael reels with the shock.

Linden and Faye finish their Mexican meal. He needs to tell her about the scan he found and explain that he thinks that Jac was going to use it to against Joseph.  She has been manipulating Joseph all along, and probably did the same to get him into bed. Faye looks at Linden and admits that she wanted him to come here tonight because he is a good friend, but she still loves Joseph and she only kissed Linden hoping that Joseph might see her.

The operation is well underway.  Annalese is not concentrating and has to be prompted on a number of occasions, causing Michael to worry and not be as efficient as normal. Maddy is picking up the slack but Annalese can't help but notice the way in which Michael is looking at her. Hewitt goes into VF and is in pain. Michael asks Annalese for more pain killer but she has forgotten to close the valve and, as she injects it, it spills out over the operating table.

Then things start to go badly wrong. Michael moves into superman mode but can't save the day and Hewitt dies on the table. There is shock all round.  Michael has to tell Kathy that her husband has died.

Jayne gathers the whole team together.  They need to be positive about this, Michael defends himself, he did all that he could. Ric blames Hewitt's body condition and says that he wasn't fit for the operation.  The meeting breaks up. Annalese and Michael find themselves alone.  She turns to him and says it was her fault, she caused Hewitt's death and as soon as they start to look into it, they'll realise it.  This is the end of her career. Michael comforts her.
