Homeland

Homeland

We love American Dramas here at Female First, and just can't seem to get enough. While it has to be said that Britain does make the best crime dramas, America just seems to have the edge on the overly dramatic storylines.

But it's these storylines that we just can't seem to peel ourselves away from. And in celebration, we're taking a look at some of the best current dramas that our overseas friends have to offer.

Revenge

This is a fairly new drama that started towards the end of 2011, but the fact it's only just finished its second season doesn't detract from its appeal.

It follows Emily Thorne, or Amanda Clarke as shes really known, as she returns to her childhood home of The Hamptons, after her father was framed for a crime and subsequently murdered in prison. Amanda wants to right the wrongs committed against her and her father, and seeks revenge on those who played a part in his death.

The Show was nomiated for Favourite New TV Drama at the People's Choice Awards last year, but lost out to Person of Interest. We disagree with the outcome though, because it's gripping storylines and soap opera style means we're addicted, and we think it should have come out on top!

Pretty Little Liars

This thrilling drama returns to American screens on June 11, and we can't wait! We're hooked on the dramas of Spencer, Emily, Aria and Hanna, and just can't peel oursleves away from Rosewood.

If you don't watch PLL, then you should start. It features the four friends, who are being terrorised by 'A' following the murder of their best friend Alison. Nearly 4 seasons in, and we still dont know who the true identity of A is, or who killed Ali, but theres been plenty of twists and turns to keep us entertained along the way.

Last season ended on a shocker, so we can't wait for the next episode!

Game of Thrones

This fantasy TV show is one of our favourites, and it's shot here in Britain! It's creator, David Benioff described it as 'The Sopranos meets Middle Earth', and we couldn't agree more.

With one of the biggest casts in television history, Game of Thrones has constant plot turns that keep us on the edge of our seat. We can't wait until the next episode is aired, after last weeks shocker!

Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds is a show along the same lines as CSI, but differs in that it follows the Behavioural Anaysis Unit of the FBI. The show examines how the BAU profile serial killers in order to catch them before they kill again.

This thrilling, and occasionally humerous show, provides individual episode plots aswell as ongoing character storylines for us to sink out teeth into.

The show has just been renewed for a ninth season, which get us all excited!

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is a gritty Drama that we can't take our eyes off. It features Walt, a chemistry teacher who has been diagnosed with cancer. To keep his family financially stable, he decides to 'cook up' Crystal Meth, with the help of his former student Jessie.

Throughout the course of the show, we've become increasingly unsympathetic towards Walt, and we're wondering how the second half of the fifth and final season is going to go. We can't wait for it to air in August.

Homeland

Bet you forgot about this government based drama, well we didn't!

It features Carrie Matheson, a CIA agent who is bipolar, and her on/off relationship with war hero Nick Brody. Nick was captured and held hostage by Al-Qaeda, and Carrie believes he has subsequently been turned.

We're currently awaiting a third season, but the explosive finale of season two means we can't wait.
