Perched on the edge of the Arctic Circle, Fortitude was one of the safest towns on Earth. There were never any violent crimes, but all of that changed when the events we saw transpire in the first season of the show took place.
If you haven’t managed to catch the first season but you want to catch up ahead of season 2 kicking off on Thursday (January 26), don’t worry as we’ve got you covered, pulling together the five things you absolutely need to know so you’re covered and have some idea of what’s going on…
1. It has an amazing cast, which includes Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing), Stanley Tucci (Devil Wears Prada), Sir Michael Gambon (Yes… Dumbledore) – with that alone, it has to make a good show. 2. The Defrosting Mammoth… The discovery of the poisonous wasps living in the Mammoth cause a crisis once it thaws and the town can’t quite work out what’s going for some time. 3. The Ice Hotel… Will they or won’t they build it? Season 1 saw rivalry between the scientist and developers, arguing over whether Fortitude really is a safe place to invite tourists to stay. All you need to know is, we still don’t know exactly what’s happened. 4. Yuri (Emil Hostina) fell down a hole. Will he make it out in time for season 2? At the end of the first season we found out that the hole was a mammoth burial ground, so we think season 2 might bring more poisonous wasps if so. 5. The unravelling relationships and discoveries between the people in the small town play a big part in the story of Fortitude.
