'Strictly' Judges Need New Seats

Arlene Phillips says the 'Strictly' judges need a "buffer" to stop them fighting.

The former 'Strictly Come Dancing' judge said Len Goodman and Craig Revel Horwood - who had another fight on Saturday's show - only end up squabbling because of their seating positions.

She said: "Len and Craig work brilliantly together but they need a net in between them. I think the positioning of the judges is strange."

The 66-year-old choreographer said that there would be less friction between the judges if they went back to their old arrangement, with Len sitting next to Bruno Tonioli.

"I think the whole Len and Bruno thing worked, Len and Craig do work brilliantly together but need a cushion between them."

She added: "I think the whole Len and Bruno thing worked, Len and Craig do work brilliantly together but need a cushion between them."

Saturday's show saw head judge Len, 65, lose his temper after Craig called 'EastEnders' actor Ricky Groves's attempt at the rumba "conceited".

Len said: "You're not being constructive - you were being destructive."

When Craig, 44, asked Len to stop pointing his finger at him, Len said that he would "do more than pointing in a minute."

Len also hit out at the viewers' decision to put actresses Zoe Lucker and Ali Bastian in the bottom two, saying it was "ludicrous and nonsensical".

The show failed to beat ITV1's 'The X Factor' in the ratings despite BBC chiefs moving it to a different spot after viewers complained about clashing schedules, and the show featuring the return to the stage of the Bee Gees, their first performance in six years.
