Emelia Rusciano's, Australian Idol dream is over after she is out of the reality TV singing showThe 25-year-old Adelaide mum, did not connect with the voting public with her performance in Sunday' night's disco-themed live performance show. Emelia, put in a solid performance of Turn The Beat Around by Vicki Sue Robinson, but was criticized for her look by judge "Dicko". But Dicko was only saying what the rest of the nation was thinking when he described Emelia's 70s disco get-up as "Pauline Hanson having a night at the bingo". But she might feel a little hard done to after losing, Emelia would be forgiven for thinking she had done enough to survive the latest round, but it was an unpredictable night of voting that extinguished her star. Even Casey Donovan, Idol's exceptionally talented 16-year-old, somehow found herself in the bottom three alongside Emelia and Marty Worrell. Even Casey Donovan, Idol's exceptionally talented 16-year-old, somehow found herself in the bottom three alongside Emelia and Marty Worrell.

The Sydney music student opened the disco night with a roaring version of the classic Peaches hit Shake Your Groove Thing, but again it did little for the voters.

Marty, singled out for the third successive week, had also been praised by the judges for his version of the Bee Gees classic More Than A Woman, Dicko calling it his best performance for a month.

The unpredictability of voting patterns was further proved when Daniel Bell's Working My Way Back To You by The Spinners was deemed a passable effort by voters, despite his pitch being all over the place.

Even Daniel admitted disco wasn't his thing, and promised to to take "Dicko" Dickson's advice to never sing disco again.

Nevertheless, he, Casey and Marty ultimately survived, leaving Emelia to sign off from the show that has made her a minor celebrity.

Thanking the public she said "I'd just like to thank everyone who's helped me become not quite such a novice," before chastising forum users on the Channel 10 show's website, who have been leaving unpleasant threads for the contestants.

The favourites for this year's Idol crown arguably remain disco diva Ricki-Lee Coulter, bohemian beauty Chanel Cole and chubby champion Courtney Murphy, although Anthony Callea could sneak in to the lead.
