The houses of axed soap 'Brookside' are set to be used in a new horror movie. The properties on Brookside Close, a real-life Liverpool estate, were sold off when the Channel 4 show was cancelled in 2003.But director Lawrence Gough has signed a deal to use the close to shoot the as-yet untitled film, which will see residents fenced in by military snipers who are searching for a suspected terrorist.Lawrence said: "We're using Brookside Close because someone mentioned it. It's a real close with gardens and everything else you could expect, and I was able to strike a deal with its owner."'Brookside' was first aired in November 1982 and attracted up to 10 million viewers with its controversial storylines about incest, murder and addiction. In December 1993, the soap featured the first pre-watershed lesbian kiss between Beth Jordache, played by Anna Friel and Margaret Clemence, played by Nicola Stephenson. The show's most memorable storyline saw Beth, who had been sexually abused by her father, kill her dad Trevor before she and mum Mandy buried him under the patio.
As well as launching the career of Anna, the show also starred Ricky Tomlinson, Sue Johnstone and Jennifer Ellison.
However, it was axed in 2003 due to poor ratings.
