Chris Evans has given away his meal ticket at the Brit Awards - because his estranged wife Billie Piper has banned him from sitting next to her.

The former radio DJ - who is hosting the glitzy awards ceremony - donated his ticket last week when he presented a show for UK Radio Aid, telling listeners the lucky winner would have the pleasure of his ex-wife's company for the evening.

He said: "Billie's on my table, so the winner will be sitting next to Billie.

We still love each other - but she won't let me sit next to her."

Radio Aid was a 12-hour radio marathon aired on all of Britain's commercial radio stations.
