'Doctor Who' Daleks exterminated

The Daleks have lost their crown as 'Doctor Who's scariest baddies for the first time in the show's history.

The legendary alien robots have been exterminated by the Doctor's new enemies the Weeping Angels and the Master in a poll by Doctor Who Adventures Magazine.

It is the first time the Daleks have lost out in the vote, despite the introduction of a series of new villains since 'Dr Who' returned to the screen in 2005.

A massive 55 per cent of readers plumped for the creepy crying cherubs, with 15 per cent choosing the Master and just four per cent voting for the Daleks.

Moray Laing, Editor of Doctor Who Adventures said: "The Daleks usually come top of every monster poll - so the Weeping Angels should be proud of their achievement! I wonder what the Daleks would say to the news?"

The Master was introduced in the recent third series - played by 'Life on Mars' star John Simm - and was an instant hit with fans.

It was originally reported that the Daleks would not be resurrected for the new 'Doctor Who', written by Russell T Davies, but an outcry from fans saw them make a comeback.
