'EastEnders' star Joe Swash has been struck down with meningitis. After being rushed to hospital over the weekend, doctors have diagnosed the actor – who plays wheeler-dealer Mickey Miller in the long-running BBC soap – as having meningoencephalitis, a potentially-fatal virus, which causes swelling in the brain. The condition, which starts off with flu-like symptoms, is extremely rare, affecting only four in every 100,000 people in the UK every year. Joe, 23, has now returned home at is hoping to make a full recovery – but he will take a break from 'EastEnders' to rest and recuperate. His agent, Thea Martin, revealed: "Joe returned home over the weekend following a brief spell in hospital. Doctors report he is on his way to a complete recovery with no lasting effect. "Joe wants to thank everyone for their support during the last few days. He has asked that he be given some time and privacy to relax and recover before he gets back to work." The actor is expected to return to Albert Square at Christmas.0Comments | Be the first to comment!
