John And Edward's Royal Approval

'X Factor' twins John and Edward have been given a royal seal of approval.

Princesses Beatrice, 21, and Eugenie, 19 - granddaughters to the queen - are said to be secret fans of the tuneless singers and planning to watch them perform on tomorrow night's (07.11.09) show.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Bea and Eugenie love 'The X Factor'. They're privately backing John and Edward.

"The twins are not everyone's cup of tea but the princesses admire their determination."

The young princesses reportedly loved last week's (31.10.09) performance of Queen's 'We Will Rock You' - which was also highly praised by the band's guitarist Brian May this week.

The source added: "They thought it was hilarious and don't want the boys kicked off."

The twins - whose vocal ability is questionable, but have entertained the nation with their energetic performances - have divided opinion, with the show's head judge Simon Cowell in particular stating he can't stand them.

In a further blow to the duo's credibility, novelty pop hitmakers The Cheeky Girls - Romanian twin sisters Gabriela and Monica Irimia - say John and Edward will emulate their own success, which reached a pinnacle with UK number two single 'Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)' in 2002.

Monica said: "They'll never have a song on the radio like us. Without all the dancers around them, John and Edward would not be so attractive.

"Our fan base is much wider. Fans of all ages listen to our songs. They don't even have a proper name."
