Laila Rouass reveals her music inspirations, from her early choice the Mary Jane Girls All Night Long, to her most current John legends Ordinary people, why these and her other choices appel to her and how they fit into the girl best know as Amber Gates from Footballers Wi$es .
This week's guest is the East End girl who gave up drama school to become a soap star, movie actress and the host of Bollywood's most popular dating - all before she moved back to Britain to play a foxy policewoman in Hollyoaks.
Today Laila Rouass is best known as bunny boiler Amber Gates in Footballers Wives. But what are the five songs that make her very own all time playlist - find out this Friday on ITV's No.1 music show Orange Playlist.
Laila Rouass rose to fame as a VJ hosting Close Up Encounters - a dating game with a difference where lonely hearts met their perfect match. The now glamorous actress joins Jayne Middlemiss to talk about growing up in the East End, blind dates in Bollywood, the sex in Footballer's Wives as well as the soundtrack to her life. For her first selection Laila picks 'All Night Long' by Mary Jane Girls for her past track - "I'm a big fan of Rick James who produced the album. I think it was their only hit. I just remember my aunt pretending to be them. They were the first really sexy girl band that I remember and they were quite camp."
Laila picks 'Ordinary People' by John Legend as her present track - "I like this track because it's a love song without being too romantic. I first heard it on Oprah when I was in LA! He was on the show; I just think he's fantastic live. I love the fact that it's just his voice and the piano."
She picks 'Don't Be Shy' by Rouge for her future track - "They're a new girl band. They've been around for about a year and are signed but I think they will be really big. Very beautiful girls, they can sing live and I think Kanye West is interested in them. We've got the Sugababes here but I think they are going to take it one step further and take on the States."
Laila's dedication track is to a driver called Suresh in Mauritius and it's 'Cream' by Prince - "Basically a couple of years ago I went to Mauritius with my sister and there was a guy who was driving us around and showing us the sights. He had this CD with loads of crappy songs on it and the only one we wanted to listen to was Prince so this just reminds me of that time. So this is for our little Suresh."
