Penny Lancaster-Stewart's Dancing exit

Penny Lancaster-Stewart was left "inconsolable" after being voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing' last night (11.11.07).

The leggy blonde - the wife of singer Rod Stewart - performed her salsa routine with partner Ian Waite in the dance-off with 'EastEnders' star Matt Di Angelo, but it wasn't enough to save her from the judges' axe.

After giving a tearful thanks to the audience, judges, and presenters Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly, 36-year-old Penny was "inconsolable" and quickly returned home to be comforted by Rod.

A friend of the model said: "She was inconsolable - very upset. The tears were flowing, and she left straight away and went home to Rod.

"She was consoled by ex-contestant Gabby Logan, who knew how it felt to go before it's your turn."

Penny - who was awarded a lowly 25 points out of a possible 40 for her salsa on Saturday's show (10.11.07) - said: "'Strictly Come Dancing' has been a wonderful experience which I will cherish forever. I loved being part of the show, so obviously I'm really disappointed to be leaving, and sorry that I will not get the chance to perform some of my favourite dances."

Judges Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli all chose to save actor Matt - who got 29 points for his Viennese Waltz with partner Flavia Cacace - in the dance-off, while Arlene Phillips was the only judge to put her faith in Penny.
