The Carver

The Carver

It's Halloween, and the midnight hour's close at hand! If Britney Spears and Nick Grimshaw doing 'It's Britney Witch!' wasn't enough to impress you this year, we've decided to take a look at ten of the scariest television characters of all time! Look below and let us know if we've missed your horrific favourites out!

The White Walkers - Game of Thrones

They wail louder than Mariah Carey, and their icy composure is enough to send a chill down any spine.

The White Walkers, or Wites are at first seemingly indestructible. Bumbling hero Samwell Tarly however discovers that obsidian is a powerful tool when it comes to fighting the fiends off.

The Carver - Nip/Tuck

The series producers and writers had us tricked for two seasons, while The Carver went on a rampage of rape and facial disfigurement, carving a smile into the cheeks of those they abused.

It turned out in the end that new surgeon on the block Quentin Costa and his sister Kit were the faces behind the mask, and worst of all, they managed to flee the country and carry on their reign of terror elsewhere.

Dexter Morgan - Dexter

Never has a character ever been so unpredictable. Whilst Dexter Morgan may be murdering people who ultimately deserve to meet their deaths, his unstable nature is definitely one that keeps viewers on their toes.

The show as a whole has worn on the audience's psyche for some time now - is it alright to be rooting for someone who takes pleasure in murdering others, and keeps some of their blood in a little wooden box?

Madame Delphine LaLaurie - American Horror Story: Coven

'American Horror Story: Coven' began in the UK on Tuesday, and with it came the introduction of Kathy Bates to the much-loved series, in the role of real-life Madame Delphine LaLaurie.

If the real thing wasn't bad enough, Ryan Murphy has ensured that Kathy Bates is at her very best in 'Coven', pushing boundaries and showing LaLaurie at her very worst - using the blood of slaves she tortures to keep her face looking young, and stitching the head of a bull onto one young victim to create her very own minotaur.

Jacs Holt - Wentworth Prison

She's absolutely terrifying and will stop at nothing to maintain the power she's gradually 'earned' in Wentworth Prison.

Jacs is 100 percent evil, there's no denying it. She's fried someone's hand on a steam press, beaten someone to death with a lead pipe and had the daughter of a fellow prisoner killed all because she wanted to stay in control.

Silas - The Vampire Diaries

Silas isn't one to be laughed at! The former warlock turned first immortal being in the entire world is the most dangerous supernatural being in the entire Vampire Diaries universe.

Taking on the form of characters throughout the series, Silas is mad at Tessa for killing his one true love and leaving him to rot for two millennia. Can we blame him? Not really, but that doesn't mean he isn't one scary S.O.B when he gets going on a rampage!

Davros - Doctor Who

He's the creator of the Doctor's deadliest and most feared enemies, the Daleks, and Davros has been an archenemy of Who since 1975.

The ruthless scientist believes that through the Daleks, he can become the supreme ruler of the entire globe. Last seen in 2008, fans of the hit show are expecting him to make his return alongside the 11th Doctor.

Eugene Tooms - The X Files

Capable of squeezing his body through the smallest of gaps, Eugene Tooms wasn't one to feel bad about taking the lives of his victims.

The genetic mutant could hibernate for periods of up to 30 years at a time, but when he wasn't resting up, he was feasting on human livers that he removed with his bare hands. Totally gruesome.

The Gentlemen - Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Roaming from town to town in search of seven human hearts, The Gentleman scared Buffy fans more than ever before.

The bald, pale humanoids never once spoke, but didn't let up on the horrifying grin that showed off their metallic teeth. In black suits, carrying satchels containing scalpels, they used a magic box to rid the town of Sunnydale of everyone's voices - as a human voice is fatal to the Gentleman.

Richard Hillman - Coronation Street

Soaps have given us some of the scariest and creepiest characters to hit television screens, but none have reached the level that Richard Hillman managed to accomplish.

"You should have stayed at the party, Maxine" he said, before beating the mother to death and going on to drive the Platt family into a canal, hoping they'd all pass away in a watery grave.

So, there you have it! Did you favourite creepy character make it, or have we missed out someone iconic? Let us know in the comments below.
