Ahead of the debut of Idris Elba's new series No Limits for Discovery Channel, a selection of first look clips have been unveiled, showing the actor and producer at high speeds.

Seen preparing for the legendary Circuit of Ireland Rally, as well as heading to Monoco, Idris will be testing himself like never before.

As the Golden Globe winner challenges his body, mind and engineering know-how, he'll not only race on land but in the air as part of the show, immersing himself into a range of speed challenges across disciplines that include as well as rally driving, drag racing and aerobatics.

Idris will also attempt to break the 'Flying Mile' record set by Malcolm Campbell all the way back in 1927.

Joining up with some of the very best professional teams the world has to offer, he'll get coaching from global leaders and trained pilots and drivers, including Jimmy McRae, Ed Cyster, Antron Brown and Ari Vatanen.

Speaking about the show, Idris said: "I'm taking on the toughest racing challenges of my life for this new Discovery TV series. Along the way I'll meet extraordinary individuals, spectacular machines and hear amazing stories of how far people go to satisfy their love of speed. The extreme challenges will take me right out of my comfort zone as I compete against the best on land and in the air."

Idris Elba: No Limits premieres tomorrow - Monday July 6 - at 9pm on Discovery Channel.
