Netflix have released a teaser trailer for one of their latest new original series, Marco Polo.

Looking at the famed explorer and his journey, Marco is in the centre of a brutal 13th century war in China, with martial arts, politics, battles and sexual intrigue all coming to the forefront.

The first season of the drama consists of ten episodes, shot in different locations including Malaysia, Kazahkstan and Italy.

With a cast including Richelmy, Benedict Wong, Joan Chen, Chin Han, Zhu Zhu, Olivia Cheng, Claudia Kim, Mahesh Jadu, Tom Wu, Remy Hii, Uli Latukefu and Rick Yune, it brings together a variety of talents from many genres, in a Netflix and The Weinstein Company-produced series.

John Fusco created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner alongside Dan Minahan, with directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg directing the first two hours, also serving as executive producers.

"John Fusco and his team have created a timeless tale of power, adventure, betrayal and lust that combines deft storytelling and cinematic ambition," said Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer. "It is a fantastic addition to our slate of original series, both because of its quality and because it is the kind of gripping action-adventure that Netflix members love."

Marco Polo premieres on December 12, with more information at www.Netflix.com/MarcoPolo.
