Disney Channel star Brad Kavanagh from Whitehaven in Cumbria has been nominated in the Break-through Talent category at the 2008 EA British Academy Children's Awards, which showcases the very best in children's productions - across film, television and online.
Discovered during a talent search in 2007, Brad was picked from thousands of applicants when Disney Channel executives spotted his untapped star quality and a presence that resonated with British kids.
The multi-talented star has gone on to capture the imagination of Disney Channel’s viewers and set their hearts aflutter as the new kid on the block. His role as Dylan in hit show As the Bell Rings has helped make the series a massive success, and the 16-year-old is now embarking on a music career. In the past year, he has made three music videos for the channel, including a cover version of a track from Disney Channel’s huge tween movie, Camp Rock.
As well as acting, dancing and singing, Brad had recently added presenting to his repertoire. Riding on the success of HSM2, Disney Channel launched My School Musical, a talent contest that Brad presented and inspired kids to get involved in their droves. The 16-year-old has also presented new show Jonas Brothers: Live In London.
Brad said;”I'm still in shock and can't believe that I've been nominated for the 'Break-through Talent' category. It all seems so overwhelming to be nominated for such a prestigious award and I never thought something like this would happen to me. I feel so lucky to be one of the nominees this year, especially as I've enjoyed every minute of it!”
This year's EA British Academy Children's Awards will take place on Sunday 30th November 2008.
