Fawlty Towers

A return to Fawlty Towers is on the top of TV fans wish list according to a new survey conducted by Freeview after the successful resurgence of Dallas last year.

Freeview polled over 2,000 TV fans across the nation to see what they would like to see come back to their screens, and it was comedy that ruled the way, with all of the top four shows being comedies.

The John Cleese fronted Fawlty Towers topped the poll, with 29% feeling they wanted more Basil Fawlty in their lives. It was followed up by curmudgeonly comedy One Foot In The Grave with 22% of the vote and The Muppet Show rounding out the podium with 18%, just beating out good natured seventies sitcom The Good Life which claimed 17% of the vote.

Sara Jones, Head of Communications at Freeview said; “The results of this research highlight the nation’s love of timeless British comedy classics. As the cold nights draw in, Freeview customers can continue to enjoy their favourite TV shows, both old and new, subscription-free.”
