American Idol runner-up Crystal Bowersox is engaged to marry her new boyfriend just months after her former partner dumped her on the eve of the talent show finale.

The singer finished second to Lee DeWyze in May (10) and revealed shortly afterwards that her partner Tony Kusian ended their relationship just hours before she was due to take the stage.

Bowersox has now put the heartbreak behind her by announcing her engagement to her new love, musician Brian Walker.

And the new couple can't wait to exchange vows - they are planning to marry as early as next month (Oct10), according to People.com.

Bowersox, 25, has a son, Tony, from a previous relationship.
