Mad Men star January Jones owes her acting success to ex-boyfriend Ashton Kutcher - because she was determined to prove him wrong after the actor urged her to quit.

The pair met and dated while Jones was working as a model and attempting to break into Hollywood.

The Golden Globe-nominated actress claims her beau advised her give up her dream and stick to the catwalk, but it only spurred her on to try harder.

Jones, who plays Betty Draper in the hit HBO show, tells GQ magazine, "I should thanks him. The minute you tell me I can't do something, that's when I'm most motivated."
