Coronation Street's Jennie McAlpine says the "whole nation" is behind Fiz Stape and Tyrone Dobbs getting back together.
The flame-haired factory worker - who is portrayed by Jennie McAlpine - is delighted her alter-ego is attempting to rekindle her relationship with the mechanic (Alan Halsall) so he can ditch his violent fiancee Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede).
But Jennie revealed there is a "tense" moment when the abusive brunette nearly catches Tyrone and Fiz sharing a sneaky kiss on his birthday.
She said: "People in the street keep coming up to me to say they think Fiz needs to get with Tyrone again - they've realised they're in love again long before Fiz has!
"When Kirsty walks in on them, it's a nerve-jangling moment because Fiz has to hide and pray she isn't seen. It's so tense, and 'Corrie' has done this story very well because Tyrone is such a beloved character. I think the whole nation is behind him now."
While Jennie admits Fiz's situation is a precarious one, she insists her alter-ego is "not scared" of Kirsty.
She explained: "Fiz is playing with fire. At this stage, she's under no illusion of what Kirsty is capable of, but she's not scared of her either. Fiz won't stay away from Tyrone now, and she certainly won't back down."
The 28-year-old actress would be "so chuffed" if Fiz and Tyrone get back together because she has "so much fun" working with Alan.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: "Fiz sees her future with Tyrone - if only they can get rid of Kirsty!
"I'm so chuffed because I love working with Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone. He's so much fun to do scenes with, and he's a great pal of mine as well."
