Jungle Junction Coming To Playhouse Disney

Playhouse Disney today announced that Jungle Junction, its brand new high-energy animation for preschoolers, will premiere on the channel in September.

Set deep in the heart of an unexplored, road-filled Jungle, the show features a group of fun-loving animals on wheels and aims to help preschoolers develop their pre-literacy skills, as well as encouraging them to care about the environment.

The CG-animated series follows the wheeled animals of Jungle Junction as they zoom their way through the jungle on fast-moving, fun adventures.

Part animal, part vehicle, the residents include Zooter, an energetic pink pig scooter who is the jungle messenger, Ellyvan, a cross between an elephant and a van who provides the jungle residents with their delivery service, and the Beetlebugs who are the playful kids of the jungle, always eager to learn.

Each 25 minute episode follows the story of one of the key characters solving a problem they need to overcome.

Like all Playhouse Disney programming, humour and fun are an integral part of the show, so learning becomes an enjoyable and playful experience for preschoolers.

The series is underpinned by an innovative curriculum that encourages preschoolers to be aware of their impact on the natural world and helps them foster an early appreciation for the environment.

In addition, the show works to develop pre-literacy skills through the use of road signs and symbols that are placed all over the jungle. Preschoolers are invited to decipher the signs as part of the storyline to help them understand their meaning in the everyday world.

The educational elements of the show are punctuated by a catchy reoccurring song, Gotta Zip. This provides a fun musical transition as the characters figure out how to overcome their obstacles and travel at speed around the Jungle Junction road network to reach their solution.

Developed and produced at award-winning Spider Eye animation studios in London and Cornwall, the series has been created by Trevor Ricketts executive-produced by Erica Darby and directed by Morgan Francis. Brian Neish ("Little Robots") served as curriculum consultant on the series.
