Kreuk to Play Beauty in TV Series Revamp

Pretty Smallville star Kristin Kreuk has been cast as the female lead in a new Beauty and the Beast TV series, according to industry reports.
The actress, who played Lana Lang in the hit Superman show, will portray a modern-day New York homicide detective who befriends the survivor of a military experiment-turned-city vigilante in the new drama, reports Deadline.com.
The series will be loosely based on the hit 1980s TV drama Beauty and The Beast, which starred Linda Hamilton and Hellboy actor Ron Perlman.
There's also a Beauty and The Beast movie in the works, which Guillermo Del Toro will direct.
Reports suggest Harry Potter star Emma Watson will play his leading lady.
