Lorraine Kelly wants to bring some humour back to 'Daybreak'.
The 52-year-old presenter has become the new co-host of the ailing ITV1 breakfast show, alongside Aled Jones, and she says it's important to go back to what the viewers want to improve ratings.
She said: "We're going back to basics. It's all about giving people the main news and showbiz of the day.
"We're bringing some of the fun back, not fun resulting from silly stunts, it's having a sense of humour. But you don't want to change everything."
Lorriane - who will go on air at 7am each weekday except Fridays and present 'Daybreak' until 8.30am, then switch to her usual 'Lorraine' show - is also confident viewers will be impressed with former child star Aled, because he's so funny.
She told The Sun newspaper: "He just made me laugh. He's very sharp and well-informed. And he doesn't indulge in some kind of gladiatorial 'I'm cleverer than you' nonsense. He gets on with it."
The debut episode of the new-look 'Daybreak' - which launched in September 2010 and was originally hosted by Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley - started this morning (03.09.12) and it saw Lorraine and Aled interview stars including James Nesbitt and Little Mix, who performed their number one single 'Wings'.
