'71 Degrees North' has been axed.

The TV contest - which was hosted by Paddy McGuinness and Charlotte Jackson and sees celebrities on a trek across the Arctic - will not be returning to TV screens because no big-named stars were will to partake in the dangerous hike.

Charlotte said: "It's not coming back. The scenery is spectacular and it was an amazing experience but it's really tough. I don't think the celebrities realised just how hard it was.

"Watching at home you'd expect the stars would get an extra rug after filming but they were just sleeping in snow graves. John Barnes almost got pneumonia because he sweated on a task and then it froze on him. I was glad to be in a hotel at night with Paddy."

Rav Wilding won the last series of the show, and celebrities including Gavin Henson, Konnie Huq and Martin Kemp have all previously taken part.

However it is not the last time Paddy and Charlotte will be seen on screens together as they have recorded an Olympic version of 'The Big Quiz'.

She told The Sun newspaper: "We filmed it in front of a live studio audience, which I had never done before, and it's girls against the boys which I always think is a good thing."
