Rod Stewart is a huge fan of 'Downton Abbey'.

The veteran singer and his wife Penny Lancaster love Julian Fellowes' ITV drama so much that they even refuse to answer the phone when the show is on.

Ronnie Wood's daughter Leah - who is close pals with Rod's daughter Kimberly - was overheard chatting to Hugh Bonneville at the reception for the Volvo V60 Plug-In Diesel Hybrid at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last week where she confessed Rod's love of the programme.

Speaking to Hugh - who plays Lord Grantham in the period drama - Leah said: "My friend's Dad and his missus [Rod and Penny] are huge 'Downton Abbey' fans, they won't even answer the phone when the show is on!"

Hugh was thrilled with the news and couldn't wait to share it.

A source exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Hugh told me himself at the festival. Leah told him about Rod and Penny when they were outside having champagne on the terrace at the launch, he was really chuffed."

Leah was hosting the VIP launch reception for the Volvo V60 Plug-In Diesel Hybrid at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
