Rio Ferdinand has no plans to swap football for TV.

Although the Manchester United soccer star loved filming 'Let's Get Gold' - which sees 15 teams of athletes competing to win a £100,000 prize by transforming their sport into a dance routine - he won't give up his football career for a presenting role.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I loved doing it but I still imagine being a football manager after I quit the game. Right now I'd like to keep playing and do this as a sideline."

Rio also revealed he nearly became a dancer instead of a footballer.

He explained: "I was about 10 years old when this guy saw me doing gymnastics and said he thought I could do ballet.

"I really just went along because it was different to being around my estate. I ended up going for four years, three times a week. I did lots of different dance and really enjoyed it.

"But then my dad said, 'Rio, you need to pick between dance and football'. Luckily, I went for football."

'Let's Get Gold' - which also features Vernon Kay, Una Healy, Freddie Flintoff and Martine McCutcheon - will air on ITV1 on Thursday (05.07.12) at 9pm.
