'X Factor' contestant Rylan Clark wants to prove his critics wrong.
The controversial singer - who is tipped to be chosen for the live finals by judge Nicole Scherzinger in tonight's episode (29.09.12) of the ITV1 show - has received death threats since appearing on the programme, but is determined to show he is no "joke" act and is committed to the competition.
Rylan told the Daily Star newspaper: "I've had a couple of death threats. But I don't care. I want 'X Factor' more than anything in the world.
"People think I'm there for a joke but I will be the hardest working person in it."
The Essex boy was criticised for being fame-hungry when it emerged he was a finalist in reality TV show 'Signed By Katie Price', becoming the target for twitter trolls claiming he doesn't deserve a spot in the competition.
The resilient hopeful intends to prove his critics wrong by competing against James Arthur, Adam Burridge, Jake Quickenden, Nathan Fagan-Gayle and Jahmene Douglas to become one of Nicole's three finalists in the Boys' category.
The 23-year-old singer recently joked that if he were picked, his outlandish stage outfits would more than make up for his vocals, saying: "It would be lovely if they let me use Auto-Tune but I doubt they will.
"My outfits will be so off the mark there will be Ofcom complaints. I think the style team will literally be salivating over me."
This weekend's double episode sees Nicole, Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh jet off to exotic locations to decide which acts they will take to the finals.
