The Television BAFTA nominations have been announced.

In the running is June Brown who is up for the Best Actress award for her role as Dot Cotton in Eastenders. Having acted for over 50 years, this is the first time June has been nominated. The last soap actress nomination went to Jean Alexander 20 years ago for her role as Hilda Ogden in Coronation Street.

Former Eastender Ross Kemp has been nominated twice for his factual programmes on Afghanistan and Kenya. Also appearing in two categories is comedian David Mitchell for his performance on Peep Show and That Mitchell and Webb Look.

Sky News has been nominated twice for its coverage on the canoe man and Mumbai. The Olympics 2008 appears in both the Sport and Interactivity categories.

Not appearing in the Continuing Drama category is Coronation Street. Instead the race will be between Eastenders, Casualty, The Bill and Emmerdale.

The ceremony which will be hosted by Graham Norton, will be held at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 26 April.
