Coronation Street's Terry Duckworth is set to bring controversy to the cobbles by opening a lap dancing club in Weatherfield.

Coronation Street's Terry Duckworth is set to open a lap dancing club in Weatherfield.

Show bosses believe the soap bad boy - who is played by Nigel Pivaro - is the ideal character to bring a controversial club to the cobbles, which could lead to a number of late-night escapades on the Street when the Rovers Return closes for the night.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Who better to be the brains behind a lap dancing or pole dancing place. Terry Duckworth is the perfect rogue character to be amongst the girls and characters frequenting the club.

"But can you imagine the impact the place will have on the more elderly characters living in the Street?"

Terry is also set to be reunited with his son Tommy (Chris Fountain) 19 years after he snatched him from his own parents, Jack (Bill Tarmey) and Vera Duckworth (Liz Dawn), in order to sell the tot to his maternal grandparents.

But Nigel thinks it will be difficult to reprise his role on the show without his now deceased on-screen parents.

He recently explained: "It will be strange and a little sad without my old sparring partners, Bill and Liz with whom I had forged such a strong working and personal relationship, but I relish creating an interesting new rapport with Chris who plays Terry's son Tommy."
