Adele could be set to perform on 'The X Factor'.

Show bosses are reportedly pulling out all the stops to secure the 'Someone Like You' hitmaker's comeback performance as she launches the promo campaign for her eagerly awaited third album later this year.

ITV producers believe Adele - whose last album '21' has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide - would provide a significant boost in ratings and are even willing to base an entire week of live shows around her by having contestants sing her past hits.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "She watches the show religiously. Producers are well aware she doesn't need the promotion. Her third album is a guaranteed success.

"Normally pop stars enjoy a huge boost after appearing on the show, but 'The X Factor' would be the real winners.

"She would probably give the show its highest ratings. The gig is hers if she wants it and she seems very keen."

The 25-year-old warbler is a huge fan of the ITV singing show and previously tipped 2012 contestant Ella Henderson for pop stardom.

In fact, Adele once admitted she almost auditioned for Simon Cowell and co. on the show.

She said: "We'd be watching and my family would tell me I should go on. I'd look at them and think, 'F**k off, you just want me to be embarrassed for a good laugh.' "
