The 33-year-old 'Poldark' actor enjoys winding up fellow passengers when he takes the train and thrives off making the situation more awkward if they are reading a story about him in a newspaper.

In an interview with GQ magazine, he said: "Yeah. If they recognise me on the Tube, I tend to wind people up quite a bit!"

Aidan recalled a previous encounter on a Tube train when he witnessed a woman looking at a picture of him which had been Photoshopped with Labour MP, Ed Miliband.

He shared: "I may have leaned over and said something to her."

Aidan has become a household name from his role as Captain Ross Poldark which is currently nearing the end of its second series run.

The TV hunk believes the BBC One programme has attracted millions of viewers because the 18th Century Cornwall-set drama is unique as a programme.

He mused: "The genre isn't something that's on TV now. You know, we're not 'Downtown Abbey'. We're not like other shows."

In recent months Aidan has been hotly tipped to take over the big screen role of James Bond from Daniel Craig when hands back his licence to kill.

However, the actor is taking no notice of the speculation, saying: "I just don't entertain it at all. I'm not interested in the gossip and stuff."
