Alesha Dixon hopes that her career will allow her to emulate her idol Oprah Winfrey.

First finding fame as part of group Mis-Teeq, Alesha's recently held meetings in America with TV moguls and admits she'd love to enjoy success in the country by making a "difference in people's lives".

Reflecting on her adoration of Oprah, she told The Sun newspaper: "She's so incredible and she uses her fame for good. She tries to help other people.

"Oprah is a powerful woman proving you can do a lot of things against the odds.

"The way she lives her life is very centred, grounded and spiritual. It would be a dream to meet her."

Alesha also cited Madonna as one of her big inspirations and heroes.

"What I love about Madonna is she does what pleases her. She writes her own script. She was a huge influence on me. I really loved her music and admired her as a female performer."

Confirming she'd like to make more documentaries in the future, she's already explored the issue of domestic violence in the BBC's Don't Hit My Mum.

"I love making documentaries and the ones I've done have been really rewarding.

"I would absolutely love to do more things like that. I think it's important to do things that make a difference in people's lives."
