Teasing “a future where you can change your body like changing clothes” comes a brilliant new featurette from Netflix, who are gearing up for the release of their new Netflix original series Altered Carbon in February 2018. You can check out the brilliant video below, and take a closer look at the backstory that will go into making the new series:

Based on the noir novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan, this is a story of murder like no other, bringing in strands of love, sex and betrayal and taking place in a society that’s over three centuries in the future. Transformed by technology, a person’s consciousness is now able to be digitised, with human bodies interchangeable and death no longer a permanent state.

For those who haven’t read the original story, Altered Carbon looks set to be a show like nothing they’ve ever experienced before. The unique nature of the narrative promised for viewers should be a sight to behold, and it’s something a lot of people are already very excited about seeing if social media response is anything to go by.

There are also those who HAVE read the novel however, and wonder just how some parts of the story will be brought to the show, if at all. It’s fair to say controversy has swirled around the original story, but with a bit of polishing up around the corners, it could be a huge success.

Starring Joel Kinnaman, who stars in the above video, alongside the likes of Antonio Marziale, Chris Conner, Hiro Kanagawa, James Purefoy, Zahf Paroo, Hayley Law, Alika Autran and Teach Grant, the show is written by Laeta Kalogridis (also seen in the above video), with Miguel Sapochnik serving as director.
