'Broadchurch' won the Best of British TV Programme or Series prize at the Freesat TV Awards last night (10.07.13).
The popular ITV murder mystery series - which stars Olivia Colman, David Tennant and Will Mellor - was one of the big winners on the night and played a part in ITV taking home the main gong of the evening, the Freesat Channel of the Year accolade.
Judges praised the organisation for discovering a "new class and confidence", resulting in a "resurgence of break out hits and high end drama".
Sally Phillips, best known for her roles in 'Miranda' and 'Smack the Pony', hosted the event, which celebrated the quality of programming on offer by the subscription-free satellite TV service.
Other notable winners included 'Coronation Street', which took home Best British TV Soap, while 'Britain's Got Talent' hosts Ant and Dec won the Personality of the Year prize.
Emma Scott, Freesat Managing Director, said: "Tonight was a fantastic celebration of everything that is truly great about British TV.
"We paid homage to the world beating creative talent behind the unique channels and groundbreaking programming that I'm proud to say make up the Freesat service.
"Congratulations to all the worthy winners which we are incredibly proud to be able to recognise year on year."
