Ant and Dec have been nominated for Best TV Personality of the year at the TRIC Awards.

Ant and Dec

The presenting duo haven't had the easiest of times recently as Ant, 42, spent the beginning of 2017 in rehab for addiction to prescription pills - sparking rumours he may not be able to host 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' alongside his pal Dec in Australia in November - and then he split from his wife Lisa Armstrong just before the festive season.

But, despite his personal struggles, the pair haven't let it affect their careers and have wiggled their way onto the long list for the Television and Radio Industries Club awards.

However, they'll have to fight off some stiff competition as they're up against the likes of Bradley Walsh, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Dermot O'Leary, Piers Morgan and Rylan Clark-Neal, Graham Norton, Emma Willis and Paddy McGuinness for the title.

'A League of Their Own', 'A Question of Sport', 'Match of the Day', 'Play to the Whistle' and 'Soccer Am' will go head-to-head for the Best Sports Programme gong at the prestigious ceremony, held at London's Grosvenor House, on March 13, 2018, while 'Coronation Street', 'Emmerdale' and 'EastEnders' will battle it out for the Best Soap trophy.

Connor McIntyre (Pat Phelan), Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew), Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) and Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) will be hoping to bag Best Actor for 'Coronation Street', while Danny Dyer (Mick Carter), Diane Parish (Denise Fox), Jake Wood (Max Branning) and Lacey Turner (Stacey Branning) will be fighting for 'EastEnders'.

However, the competition won't be limited to just those eight actors as Emmerdale's Gillian Kearney (Emma Barton), Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle), Natalie J. Robb (Moira Dingle) and Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden) are also hoping to be shortlisted for the award.

Meanwhile, Aidan Turner has been nominated for Best Drama Performance for his role in 'Poldark' but he's up against some tough talent as Casualty's Amanda Mealing, Peaky Blinder's Cillian Murphy, Victoria's Jenna Coleman, Liar's Ioan Gruffudd, Call the Midwife's Helen George, Doctor Foster's Suranne Jones and Dr Who's Peter Capaldi are among those who have also bagged a spot on the list.
