The former Pussycat Dolls singer pretended to be Caitlyn - who was known as Bruce before her gender transition - for the upcoming series of 'The Keith Lemon Sketch Show' but has confessed she wasn't sure it was a good idea when Keith first approached her.

Ashley exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "When he first asked me, he brought me in and he was like, 'OK, how do you feel about playing Caitlyn Jenner?' And I was kind of like, 'Oh God', but then I kind of giggled and I was like, it is what's happening now in the world and I'm a huge advocate for it.

"I think it took a lot of bravery for her to come out and I've had gay, transgender friends my whole life, growing up in the dance world, and I think at the end of the day you do have to laugh and have fun with it and that's what we did.

"It is what's happening in the world and we're just poking fun at it a bit. It's silly, it's not serious, it's just some fun."

The 34-year-old star claimed she's not worried about Caitlyn's famous family being offended by the sketch as she doubts they'll even see it.

Asked if she's ever met any of the Kardashians, she said: "I have met a few of them, yeah.

"I think they've got so many other things going on, I don't even know if this would be on the radar but if they did I'm sure they would laugh at it. It's silly fun."

Meanwhile, Ashley recently changed her signature blonde locks to mark the launch of Sony's new colourful h.ear on headphones. For more information: www.sony.co.uk
