The One Show has announced that the Rickshaw Challenge will be returning for its third year in aid of BBC's Children In Need.

This third outing will be the biggest and most difficult to-date, and for the first time, the riders will be visiting all four of the UK's nations, pedalling for eight days around the clock to meet their goal.

'Team Rickshaw' is to be made up of five young people who will each ride with partners including The One Show's Alex Jones. Four of the riders will be partnered with a parent.

Matt Baker will be supporting the ride, acting as mentor and cycling alongside the riders on their journey.

Approximately 700 miles will be covered on the route, which will feature challenging terrain and the threat of harsh winter weather conditions.

BBC Children In Need Chief Executive David Ramsden said: "This is an enormous challenge - covering some 700 miles is an immense task in the tough November weather! The young people are doing this for one purpose and that is to raise as much money as possible to help BBC Children In Need support projects right across the UK. I do hope everyone will support them.”

The route summary is as follows:

Day 1   Giants Causeway to Larne
Day 2   Larne to Dumfries
Day 3   Dumfries to Kendal
Day 4   Kendal to Bolton
Day 5   Bolton to Birmingham
Day 6   Birmingham to Abergavenny
Day 7   Abergavenny to Oxford
Day 8   Oxford to BBC Elstree

Those who want to support the challenge can donate £5 by texting 'TEAM' to 70705.
