The Olympic gymnast was airlifted to hospital on Saturday (06.02.16) after she ploughed into a barrier and damaged her spine while practicing for the winter sports show.

Beth's mother and father Ann and Jerry announced in a statement yesterday (07.02.16): "Beth had a fall on the slopes whilst in training for 'The Jump'. She is stable and due to undergo routine surgery on her back.

"Beth and the family would like to thank everyone for their good wishes. We will keep you updated on her progress."

Following the shocking accident, the 30-year-old athlete has been left with no choice but to leave the competition - making her the third celebrity to quit the show due to injury.

'Holby City' actress Tina Hobley, 44, was also forced to pull out last week after she dislocated her elbow and fractured her arm when the crew failed to vacate the landing area.

And Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington, 26, has decided to depart the competition after she dislocated her shoulder while practicing the frightening air jump last week.

Meanwhile, Paralympian Heather Mills, 48, who lost her leg below the knee in 1993 after a collision with a motorcycle, has been called in to take Rebecca's place on the show.

And the ex-wife of Sir Paul McCartney is no doubt looking forward to getting back out on the slopes after she took part last year but was eliminated in the first round.
