The 37-year-old presenter has hosted the reality TV show since it hit television screens two years ago and, although the current series hasn't yet gone to air, she's already eyeing up the gig for 2018.

She said: "I would love to be back presenting the show next year - it'd be weird not to be back."

However, this year's instalment may be slightly different for the brunette beauty as she'll rub shoulders with Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Camilla Thurlow after she agreed to join the villa.

Despite the possible awkwardness between them, Caroline - who enjoyed a brief fling with the prince in 2009 after they met at a party - is adamant she'll always stick up for the beauty queen.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she explained: "I am supportive of all the Islandlers. I'm on their side all the time with everything they do - and I'm particularly protective of the girls going in there. She can come and talk to me about everything that happens when she comes out - that is what I have experience in. Anything that is going to be written or discussed about them - I have been there and taken it to heart. It's such a small world and you can get really engrossed in your thoughts. I will after all of them - just as I did with the 'X Factor' contestants."

Meanwhile, the forthcoming series is set to be even more explosive than last year, which saw beauty queen Zara Holland stripped of her Miss Great Britain title after she had sex on screen, as bosses have decided to extend it by a week in order to allow even more flirty antics and rows.

Caroline said: "We needed an extra week. Last year we were close to opening 'Love Island' for those missing it."
