The 31-year-old beauty announced at the end of last year that she is stepping down from portraying feisty barmaid Eva Price - a part she's played since 2011 - this summer, and it has now been revealed that the star is keen to land a part in a drama series and she has been trying out for new parts.

A source told The Sun Online: "Cath has made no secret of the fact she wants to spread her wings a bit more. She loves 'Corrie' and playing Eva but it was time to get back out there as a jobbing actress. She's started reading scripts and auditioning for new drama roles and it's a really exciting time for her."

As for her character Eva, she is currently involved in a gripping pregnancy storyline, which will no doubt run up to the summer when Catherine exits Weatherfield.

Announcing her departure from the long-running soap in December, Catherine said: "'Coronation Street' has been a dream job for me which is why this was such a difficult decision to leave. Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years, and who knows, one day she might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again. In the meantime I'm excited about the future, new acting projects, and spending time with my family."

It's not yet known how she will leave the programme but it's believed she and bosses have already decided how they want the ending to pan out with Eva currently pregnant

A spokesperson for the show said: "We can confirm that Cath Tyldesley will leave 'Coronation Street' at the end of her current contract next year after seven years in the show. Cath's portrayal of Eva Price has made her a firm favourite amongst fans and she will be missed. The producers and writers are currently working on her exit storyline which be on screen in early summer."
