BBC's latest app for children has launched today - CBeebies Storytime.

Available for free on both iOS and Android devices, the app gives young readers the opportunity to learn alongside some of their favourite CBeebies characters.

Hoping to make reading fun, the app aims to engage children in both reading and storytelling, designed to improve reading and listening skills whilst encouraging collaborative 'family learning'.

Six story books feature on the app so far featuring CBeebies characters from the following shows: Old Jack's Boat, Show Me Show Me, Something Special, Grandpa In My Pocket, Octonauts and Charlie and Lola.

Recall questions to help develop comprehension skills are included, and two reading options are given - 'Read to Me' and 'Read by Myself'. There are also guided interaction points so children are engaged throughout the learning development.

Parents and carers can refer to the Grown Ups section which includes tips and links to more useful information.
