Claudia Winkleman has revealed she is done with Instagram because it's all about "showing off".

The 'Strictly Come Dancing' host has hit out at the photo sharing platform and admits she just finds the concept "bizarre" because it's focus is all about watching other people and sharing your own moments instead of concentrating on actually living your life.

Writing in her column for The Sunday Times Style magazine, she said: "Instead of living, I was watching other people living. And worse, they were stopping what they were doing and capturing and sharing instead of living it, too ... Instagram is simply showing off.

"It's, 'Look at me!' It's, 'Isn't life fantastic?' It's, 'I can't believe how great I look!' It's, 'Wow, look at my thigh gap!' It's, 'We're still in love!' And it's bizarre."

While Claudia, 46, defended people who have private Instagram accounts and use it to share memories with family and friends, she hit out at the idea of people putting everything out there for "strangers".

She added: "It might be, 'These teenagers are uncontrollable!' Or it might be, 'He's burnt the potatoes', but it's showing people (often strangers - just to be clear, my rant isn't against private account holders, you're fine) your most intimate moments. It's so totally and utterly odd."

Although her account is still on the site, she hasn't posted anything since December 2017, during the 'Strictly Come Dancing' final.

Despite sharing snaps with her co-star Tess Daly, she has been more tight-lipped when it comes to her private life with her husband Kris Thykier, who she married in 2000.

Claudia and the BAFTA-nominated producer have three children, Matilda, Jake, and Arthur, together.
