Beverley Callard - who has played Liz McDonald in the soap on and off since 1989 - will celebrate her 30th year on the cobbles in 2019, but she isn't holding out for any presents from the show's bosses.

She said: "They give you nothing. They used to, but they don't now."

While the 60-year-old actress isn't expecting a gift, she is secretly hoping the soap's chiefs will treat her to a clock.

She added: "I'm going to tell them you should get something like a clock."

In March 2016, Beverley took two months off from the cobbles due to her on-going battle with depression, and she has admitted some of her "ultra-close friends" haven't always been there for her when she needed them.

She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I had ultra-close friends saying they 'were there for you', but where?

"You tell people and they say, 'Oh gosh, that's terrible,' then you are in the worst of it and they are unavailable."

In September 2016, Beverley revealed she considered taking her own life when she hit rock bottom with depression.

She said at the time: "Me, a person with endless energy, was suddenly suicidal and unable to get out of bed. Talking about your illness does help people who are suffering to know they are not alone."

The 'Corrie' star took to Twitter beforehand to reveal one of the drugs she took for her illness had been discontinued without warning.

She tweeted: "Been battling the demons of depression! One of the meds I'm on, has been stopped by pharmaceutical company, apparently it doesn't make money I'm getting there!!!! Thanks so much for all your good wishes xxxx (sic)"
